Comments: | The West Supreme Court gave 3 months to make the RTI web portal on 20.03.2023. Subsequently, we sent them letters in April and May of 2024, highlighting non-compliance. After consequent appropriate action, the State of West Bengal has finally revealed their RTI Web Portal as on 18.10.2024. However, it is pertinent to note that the RTI Web Portal made by West Bengal Govt leaves a lot to be desired. Despite our specific concerns about compliance with GIGW guidelines, the CAPTCHA does not offer an audio alternative for the visually impaired. More importantly, the Payment mechanism is needlessly complicated and possibly even non-working. Instead of adding a payment gateway, it redirects to a different website for a challan generation to be uploaded on the portal, which is less than ideal. During our filing test, we could not finish our application due to payment gateway’s confusing UI. While the URL (http://rtionline.semtwb.in/aspx/signin.aspx) for the portal may be published, the Nagrik Project maintains that it is not functional. |
